Introduction


This 1-day instructor led course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to use SharePoint Services in a day to day work environment.



The course will focus on 3 main areas. First it will look at how to use SharePoint Document Libraries to store content in.  Then it will look at SharePoint Lists and finally it will look at the integration between SharePoint and Microsoft Office Outlook.



Students will be provided with hands-on labs covering most common day-to-day scenarios in which SharePoint can be utilized.
  


Audience


This course is intended for end-users that needs to learn how to use SharePoint in a day-to-day environment.
The student should be familiar with the following application:



• Windows XP or Windows Vista
• Internet Explorer
• Microsoft Office
• Familiar with saving and opening documents in various applications.



Course Outline



Module 1 Introduction to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS)


This module provides students with an introduction to Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.  It describes the advantages of using Windows SharePoint Services as a collaboration and document management system.  This module also takes a look at how to navigate a SharePoint site and covers features like Navigation menus, Site Actions and Breadcrumbs.

After completing this module, students will be able to:



• Explain the purpose of Windows SharePoint Services
• Describe the navigation features of a SharePoint site
• Explain the interaction between a SharePoint site and Microsoft Office



Module 2: Using SharePoint Document Libraries


In this module students will be introduced to the different types of libraries that can be created. Students will also see how document libraries are going to be used.

At the end of this module, you will be able to:



• Access document libraries
• Create and save files to a library
• Check out and modify documents
• Check in documents and access versioning
• Use workflow solutions
• Create custom views



Module 3: Using SharePoint Lists


This module provides students with an overview of SharePoint lists and their usage. It will cover the different types of lists that exist, such as task lists, issue lists, custom lists etc. Finally we will look at how to work with the different types of lists.

After completing this module, students will be able to:



• Explain the purpose of lists
• Describe the different type of lists and their usage
• Work with lists



Module 4: Using Outlook with SharePoint


In This module students will get an overview of the integration between SharePoint and Office Outlook. It will cover how to connect libraries, lists and workspaces to outlook as well as calendar sharing and meeting spaces.

After completing this module, students will be able to:



• Connect Outlook to SharePoint task lists
• Schedule and create meeting workspaces through Outlook
• Setup calendar sharing.
