This summer CTE Solutions, a local technology training company, will again be giving away over $140,000 worth of free training and certification programs to help the unemployed technology professionals in our region. 

“Last year, we were inundated with news reports about the economic recession and the impact on many people’s lives.  We don’t hear about it as much anymore, but the effects are still being felt by many in the community who have either remained unemployed or found only part-time work.” says Ms. Hempey, President of CTE Solutions.  “We want to help.  These certification programs are designed to make professionals more marketable by providing training and certification in the technologies currently in demand in the marketplace.”

According to the latest report from Statistics Canada, Ottawa-Gatineau’s unemployment rate is far below the North American average, but technology sector employment is at a 64 month low.  IT professionals who want to become more marketable will be given the opportunity to upgrade their skills and certifications at no cost thanks to CTE Solutions and its partners Microsoft and Ahead Technologies.

In the summer of 2009 CTE Solutions introduced the first “Make Me Marketable” program.   Participants from last year’s program have shared various success stories: One participant, now employed full-time with the federal government, was confident that his resume was pulled from the pile due to the Windows 2008 course he took at CTE Solutions; another participant shared that the 2009 program gave her the “kickstart” she needed to actively begin her job search.

CTE Solutions is hoping to create more of these success stories.  The two programs that are being offered are ITIL Foundation Certification and Microsoft Administration MCITP: Server 2008 Administrator Boot Camp.    For more information on both programs visit www.makememarketable.ca

The company’s goal is to train and certify 48 people this summer.  Space is limited and candidates must apply online at www.makememarketable.ca.  They will be asked for proof of previous experience in the technology field, as well as demonstrate that they meet the prerequisites required for the respective programs.
