Local Technology Training Company to Give Away Over $300,000 in Free Training

May 11, 2009

CTE Solutions, a local training company, is donating over $300,000 in free training to help support technology workers in our community who have been laid off as a result of the economic downturn. The program will provide free technology training to over 150 unemployed workers in the Ottawa region this summer.

“The IT community has been very supportive of our young company, and we see this program as a way to give back to the community,” says  Mia Hempey, President of CTE Solutions.

IT professionals who want to make themselves more marketable will be given the opportunity to upgrade their skills and certifications at no charge thanks to CTE Solutions and its partners Microsoft, Ahead Technology and Noble.

The technology sector is one of the hardest hit sectors in our region.  Unemployment continues to rise as companies go bankrupt or downsize their staffing requirements.

This free training program will help job seekers differentiate themselves from other job applicants in a very competitive market. Each week this summer, classes will be offered on the latest technologies currently in demand in the marketplace: Microsoft SharePoint; Microsoft Server 2008; Microsoft VB.NET; Microsoft SQL Server 2008; Business Analysis; Java Programming; and ITIL.

Classes hold up to 14 participants, and spaces are limited. Candidates must apply online at www.MakeMeMarketable.ca and will be asked to provide proof of previous full-time experience in the technology field as well as meet the prerequisites required for the respective courses.

CTE Solutions, a leading Technical and Management Skills training company, was founded 7 years ago by a group of co-workers who were laid off when the company they worked for filed for bankruptcy.

“We’ve been there. We know what it’s like to be laid off, and if this program can help an IT Professional seeking employment, we are happy to do it. This is a way for our small company to make a big impact,” says Ms. Hempey.

CTE Solutions is a locally owned and operated private company specializing in technology training for the IT Professional.  The Company employs 11 people full-time and is headquartered in Ottawa but has recently expanded to include offerings in ten major cities across Canada. www.CTESolutions.com
