ITIL Version 3 has arrived! The best practices for IT Service providers
defined by ITIL have been adopted around the world. Version 3
continues in the tradition of ITIL, using best practices to define processes
and functions to help service providers, but instead of simply aligning our
services with the business, version 3 focuses on integrating our services
with the business. ITIL version 3 is all about Service Management and
ensuring the services we provide add value to the business. All your
favourite ITIL processes are still here: Service Desk, Incident Management,
etc... but ITIL has expanded to include new processes and best practices
such as supplier management, access management, service catalogue
management, service validation and testing. Whether you are already
implementing Version 2, or just getting started with ITIL, ITIL Version 3

ITIL Version 3 Foundation
Certification. Look for the new releases of ITIL Practitioner and
Managers Certificate coming this fall and early 2008.
The Foundation level courses introduce the framework and principles of
ITIL. You have a choice between our
ITIL Executive Overview,
ITIL Foundation Certification,
NEW - ITIL Foundation Certification - Weekend
Edition or
ITIL Plus which combines the ITIL Foundation Certification and key
Project Management skills. The ITIL Foundation course also provides 15
Personal Development Units (PDUs) and the ITIL Plus course provides 21 PDUs
that can be applied towards PMI Certification.
Exams are taken on the morning after the final day
of the Foundation Certification courses. Exams consist of 40 multiple
choice questions and require a 65% pass mark. Results are provided to
each candidate 1-2 weeks after the exam.
The ITIL Foundation
exam tests for an understanding of the underlying ITIL principles and the terms
and concepts embodied in ITIL. Foundation courses teach the importance of a
systematic approach to management. This means that a process-like approach to
the business organization is used to convey the material. The ITIL management
model provides insight into the coherence of identified processes. In addition,
you are introduced to a series of basic terms and concepts used to provide
substance to these processes.
The Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management is intended for people
working in the field of IT Service Management and is a prerequisite for the
Practitioner's and Manager's Certificates in IT Service Management.

The Practitioner's Certificate
in IT Service Management is intended for people who have the responsibility
in one or more of the processes in IT Service Management.
The ITIL Practitioner's
Examinations test for your ability to design an ITIL process and to carry out
the activities that belong to it. Courses at the Practitioner level go further
than theory alone, are practical in nature and provide both assignments and
exams that are based on the actual performance of tasks. In order to qualify for
a Practitioner's Certificate you must have successfully completed the Foundation
Certificate, passed the in-course assignments and receive a passing grade on the
final certification exam.

The Manager's Certificate in IT
Service Management is aimed at managers and consultants in IT Service
Management, especially those who are involved in implementing ITIL or advising
on ITIL.
In the IT Service Manager's
course you learn to set up and implement ITIL in organizations and
businesses. The topics covered include Service Support and Service Delivery: the
operational and tactical processes of ITIL. You will relate ITIL knowledge to
the organization and acquire insight into the consequences of providing content
and substance to the process. You further learn how to manage these processes,
always within the framework of the requirements and policy of the organization.
The written skills required for reporting and other communication skills are
also covered.
You are granted the Managers Certificate in IT Service Management
after acquiring the Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management, passing the
in-course assessment, and passing examinations for Service Support and Service
Delivery.
